Many of the Makers Featured in Machine Design Article will be at Maker Faire Fort Wayne

Two weeks ago several TekVenture members went to the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI to take in Maker Faire Detroit.  We were so enthralled with checking out the exhibits and meeting Makers, we didn’t take enough photos to share.

Check out this article from Machine Design.  Cirque AmongUs, the Jet Engine builder, and others noted will also be at our event.  Come to Maker Faire Fort Wayne to check out these and other interesting projects.

Congrats to Grant Merriman from Fort Wayne for making the story!

2013 Call for Makers is Open

Hello all you tinkerers, fabricators, artisans, robot builders, green technologists, and other Maker types.  The 2013 Fort Wayne Regional Maker Faire Call for Makers is open.  Register today to participate as an exhibitor so you can meet other Makers and share the tools, materials and processes used in making your projects.  Apply now so we can promote that you’ll be joining us.  Just click on the Makers tab and complete the Call for Makers.  Have questions?  Contact Us.

Thanks to Jim Fisler of Fire and Ice for being the first Maker to register for 2013!  He’ll share how to “build” a computer case using liquid resin.

Thanks also to the local chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) for being the first community group to register. They will have a small hands-on project demonstrating tools, materials and techniques used in aluminum aircraft construction. Those completing this project will be able to take it with them – what we lovingly call a Make & Take.

See you at the Faire!

Thanks to Indiana Michigan Power

We couldn’t pull off the Fort Wayne Regional Maker Faire without generous sponsors.  Thanks to Indiana Michigan Power for stepping up to co-sponsor “The Race” and Power Racing Series at the 2013 Faire.  We can’t wait to see what vehicles teams will enter this year.

“The Race” is Off

Off to a great start that is.  You might have seen adults riding modified kids electric ride on vehicles as they made it through obstacles of sand, water, gravel and mulch at last year’s Fort Wayne Maker Faire.  We had so much fun Fort Wayne was invited to join the Power Racing Series (PPPRS).  Much like NASCAR where race teams compete at stops along the circuit in order to earn points for bragging rights at the end of the season, the PPPRS will be stopping at the 2013 Fort Wayne Maker Faire.  Other 2013 stops include the Bay Area, Kansas City, Detroit, and New York Maker Faires.  Pretty cool for “little ole” Fort Wayne.  Check out Racing Rules and register your team today.Image

Totally Green Company Uses Old Fashioned Steam Power

As things heat up for planning of the 2013 Fort Wayne Maker Faire this Sept. 14 & 15, we thought we’d pass on this great video showing a box making company that operates solely through the use of steam power.  Let us know if it inspires your projects.  By the way, the Maker Faire Call for Makers is now open so get registered so we know you’re coming and can maximize marketing opportunities for your project.

The Party’s Over – Thank You for Coming

Though it’s been some time since our event ended, we want to thank all of our Makers, Volunteers, Food Vendors, Entertainers, Sponsors, Guests and others who helped make the Fort Wayne Regional Maker Faire a huge success!

All who attended had great fun – even with the cold weather.  Whether meeting new Makers, learning about processes and tools Makers use in their projects, creating make-and-take projects, eating wonderfully unique food or listening to the music Makers, attendees had the opportunity to experience new things, meet new people, and participate in a Maker Faire – the greatest show (and tell) on earth!

At this time we are planning our next event and hope you’ll give us feedback on how we can make it better.  Thank you Fort Wayne for helping to make this event even bigger and better.  In the meantime, check out this 2012 event video produced by Das Fort

Maker Faire Fort Wayne is Just Around the Corner

Maker Faire is fast approaching and I wanted to again say thank you for everyone’s hard work, to our sponsors, to our exhibitors, and to you, the public.

Our last meeting was last night and it was very productive.  It seems things will run smoothly, Makers are going to have a blast, and guests will be exposed to the greatest show (and tell) on earth.  THANK YOU for helping make it happen.

By the way, we secured another Maker today!

Volunteers are still needed to fill a few roles so help us out a few hours and get a cool T-shirt in addition to being part of a totally unique, fulfilling, and fun experience!  Just click on the Volunteer Tab and complete the form.  We’ll be in contact shortly.

See what the DID has to say about Maker Faire Fort Wayne.  We hope to see you there!
