See A Bike That Will Mess With Your Brain

Shane Coker will back for Maker Faire Fort Wayne 2015.

20140914_165539Shane’s background is in industrial robotics and sheet metal fabrication. He sees his projects as art, but also as a launch point for good conversation. New this year, he’s bringing a bicycle with reversed controls. That is, you turn the handlebars right, the bicycle turns left. You can talk with him about how your brain works as you fail to ride this bike, and why you fail.

Also this year, back by popular demand: the Motorized Bicycle, the Chain Bike, and the Modified 1964 Schwinn. Ask him a question about any topic. He knows you will likely both learn something.

Cirque AmongUs is Coming Back for Our 5th Year!

Many have asked if it’s true. It is. Cirque AmongUs will be back for the 5th consecutive Maker Faire Fort Wayne so if you need to hone up on your circus performance skills, now is your chance!Man on Dicycle

You may remember Sem Abrahams, Guinness Record holder for the world’s tallest unicycle ride at an unbelievable 110 feet!?! We’ve asked him to return with his crazy monocycle, the one-wheeled, motorized “vehicle” that this writer considers close to being a deathtrap.

Come to Maker Faire to learn fundamentals of circus arts – juggling, movement and balance – in a safe, fun-filled, and educational environment. Walk a tightrope, juggle, see if you can flip on o-rings or have fun riding a variety of custom wheeled cycles (for lack of a better word) Sem and his family have dreamed up and built.

Maker Faire is like no other event in that guests participate in experiential learning such as how to weld or solder while learning how Makers of the region and beyond go about turning their ideas into reality. Who knows which idea will change the world. Maybe you’ll find that you’re a Maker too!

Buy Early Bird Tickets and Save!

One of the challenges of putting on a Maker Faire is paying for it as we want to continue offering it free for Makers to show off their projects. This means we have to charge guests to attend.

In order to help, purchase tickets online thru Eventbrite and save $2 per ticket or donate any amount to help us make a better Maker Faire.

Members of the Hudson Family offer a free art-making activity.

Members of the Hudson Family and Potter’s Wife Gallery will offer a free art-making activity.

We’ve also moved from Weekend to Family Pass this year to help offset guest expense.

We’re sure once you attend Maker Faire, you’ll understand the value of make-and-takes, learning opportunities, and fun had by all as Maker Faire really is the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth!
